Ian is a born and raised Iowan, and new transplant to Seattle by way of Washington DC. He is excited to be embedded in a new city and join in community with long-time Seattleites.
Ian is also a graduate of Wartburg College with a degree in Public Relations and Organizational Leadership with nearly 10 years of experience in education justice organizing at local and national organizations. He founded the Iowa Student Learning Institute to equitably include young voices in education decisionmaking; led Student Voice to position students as storytellers, organizers and partners who advocate for student-driven solutions to educational inequity; and spent time in Washington DC advocating for student debt relief and connecting borrowers to optimized ways to get rid of their student debt. All that said, Ian is a strong believer in the intertwined connection and power between communications and social justice work and is excited to practice this belief with the A4E vision and Seattle Public Schools.
When not at work, you’ll find Ian constantly in motion traveling, caffeinating, cycling, practicing yoga or exploring local restaurants and shops near and far.
