Launch Your Teaching Career With Hands-On Experience

STR Residents are embedded in K–5 classrooms, teaching and supporting students while completing their Master’s in Teaching. This hands-on residency model prepares Residents for the realities of the classroom by combining graduate coursework with daily, in-school experience.

Masters Degree & Teaching Certificate

Graduates earn their Masters In Teaching Degree from the University of Washington College of Education and become a teacher of record receiving a Washington State Teaching Certificate and Endorsements.

Priority Hiring

Graduates receive priority hiring in Seattle Public Schools, often filling roles for high need endorsements like Special Education.

Network of Mentors, Alumni, & Instructors

Graduation is just the beginning! Graduates become part of the immense alumni network of 300+ fellow teachers, continue to connect with mentors and instructional coaches, and receive ongoing advocacy, resources and opportunities from the STR program team.
