New student enrollment for the 2024-25 school year is open, and many of the 104 school buildings are hosting open houses for students and families to visit and see the opportunity that lies in a public education.
Registration for the 2024-25 school year opened on January 2 for Seattle Public Schools and the entire registration process is completed online. Seattle Public Schools, the largest K-12 school system in Washington state, is filled with plentiful opportunities and has a deep commitment to every student’s journey—to ensure that each student will graduate ready for college, career and life.
Seattle Public Schools boasts 1 to 1 Technology for K-12 students, teachers with an average of 11 years of teaching experience, a population of students and families that come to Seattle from 159 countries and speak 150 languages and dialects. Public schools in Seattle also stand out with academic and extracurricular opportunities that support a well-rounded education such as American Indian Studies, Career and Technical Education, Ethnic Studies, Social Emotional Learning Skills, Visual and Performing Arts, Sports, Physical Education, World Languages and Health Education in addition to the ‘core-four’ subjects of Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies.
While most students attend their neighborhood school, families are welcome to apply for one of our 22 option schools. SPS offers a variety of programs and services to meet a range of student needs, including multilingual and special education services throughout a system of 104 schools. Students turning 5 who are enrolling for the first time, new families moving to Seattle or families returning to our nationally acclaimed public school schools can not only enroll but visit their future school! Many schools offer virtual school tours and open houses in the winter and spring.
