Seattle Civic Leaders to Align on Supporting Student Needs at Upcoming Oct. 12 Community Luncheon

The Convening Seattle Community Luncheon gathers the Seattle community to raise funds and increase awareness of pressing educational issues facing Seattle students, families and educators.

Mark your calendar for Thursday, October 12, 2023 at 11 a.m. at The Westin Seattle for the Alliance for Education’s Convening Seattle Community Luncheon. The Convening Seattle Community Luncheon gathers the Seattle community to raise funds and increase awareness of pressing educational issues facing Seattle students, families and educators.

This event will be emceed by Fox 13 and King 5 TV & radio personality Terry Hollimon. This year’s key conversation is on providing immediate basic needs for students that fall outside of a traditional school budget, and how the Seattle community can seek additional alignment in giving our Seattle Public Schools the resources they need to thrive. With attendee participation and donation, we can all provide vital resources to students, educators and families in Seattle Public Schools.

The public is invited to attend and may register ahead of time to reserve a seat

The program will include opening remarks from Dr. Brent Jones, Superintendent of Seattle Public Schools followed by a panel of community leaders including:

  • Alesha Washington — President and CEO, Seattle Foundation
  • Alice Shobe — Global Director of Amazon in the Community, Amazon
  • Rocky Torres — Associate Superintendent, Seattle Public Schools

Since 1995, the Alliance has partnered with Seattle Public Schools to address big challenges facing students, families, and educators. Now more than ever, this collaboration is critical. The Alliance’s work to advance racial equity and support students furthest from educational justice is essential at this pivotal moment in our city.

All are welcome to join in person for lunch and conversation in support of the Alliance’s work on behalf of Seattle Public Schools. Tickets may be purchased ahead of the event for as low as $25 a seat or $250 for a table of 10.

The Alliance thanks presenting sponsor Amazon in making this event low cost and accessible for the public, alongside other partners Alaska Airlines, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Boeing, Kaiser Permanente, Microsoft, Nordstrom, Alexandra Lozano Immigration Law, Gesa Credit Union, Liberty Mutual Safeco Insurance, RBC, Wealth Management, Seattle Department of Education & Early Learning, The Seattle Times, University of Washington College of Education and Urban League of Metropolitan Seattle.
