Kathleen has been working with Seattle area non-profits for 20 years. Prior to joining the Alliance for Education as Accounting and Payables Manager, she worked as a self-employed bookkeeper and contract accountant for a decade. Before 2012, she was on the staff for the local street newspaper, Real Change and worked for Seattle Milk Fund and the Program for Early Parent Support (PEPS).
A first-generation high school graduate who started kindergarten in the Seattle Public Schools while homeless, she is passionate about the work that the Alliance does to funnel resources to students with the most urgent needs. She knows firsthand how help with an electric bill, a new coat or a bus pass can make all the difference to a child’s emotional well-being and educational success.
Kathleen holds certificates in nonprofit management and fundraising from University of Washington. Prior to that, she studied Business and Economics at Seattle Central and Eastern Washington University. She is a mother of two teenage boys and enjoys hiking, reading, following sports (especially baseball- Let’s Go Mariners!) and finding new comedy specials to watch with her husband.
