Alliance for Education welcomes five community leaders to Board of Directors

The organization is proud to welcome executives from Adobe, Nordstrom and the Gottlieb Group; a partner from Davis Wright Tremaine; and the Dean of the University of Washington’s College of Education to its Board of Directors.

SEATTLE … The Alliance for Education Board of Directors added five outstanding community leaders to its ranks Wednesday.

“We are thrilled to welcome these individuals to our board,” said Alliance board chair Jane Broom. “The skills and knowledge each brings to the table will be especially advantageous as the Alliance for Education grows and expands its body of work on behalf of public school students in our community.”

Jaime Drozd Allen is a Partner at Davis Wright Tremaine. Ms. Drozd Allen’s practice focuses on a variety of complex commercial litigation. She has been selected as a “Rising Star” by Thomson Reuters each year since 2009. She has an extensive background in community and volunteer participation related to children, families, and education, including leadership roles with the Seattle Infant Development Center, the Hilltop Children’s Center, and Queen Anne Elementary PTSA, and previous pro bono representation of special education students in administrative proceedings and victims of domestic violence in divorce and custody proceedings. Ms. Drozd Allen and her husband have two children in the Seattle Public Schools, with a third entering Kindergarten in the fall of 2016. She is active in education advocacy and parent education within her children’s schools.

Andrea Foster is the Online Merchandising Manager at Nordstrom, Inc. Ms. Foster has more than 25 years of experience working with Nordstrom in diversified merchandising and planning leadership roles with multiple divisions.

Steven Gottlieb is founding partner of the Gottlieb Group. He has more than 20 years experience providing strategic communications and public affairs counsel to companies and organizations in multiple sectors, including San Francisco Unified School District, Seattle Children’s Hospital, the Port of Seattle, and University of Washington. Mr. Gottlieb has held executive positions at Zeno Group, a subsidiary of Edelman, a global communications and marketing firm.

Bridget Perry is the Vice President of Enterprise Marketing at Adobe Systems Inc. Ms. Perry also serves as the Site Leader for Adobe’s Seattle office with a focus on the company’s engagement with the community. Ms. Perry spent the first part of her career in the non-profit sector working with refugee and immigrant communities as the Director of Catholic Community Services of Western Washington Refugee Services. She has also worked with low-income adult learners in inner-city Philadelphia as a program manager, and as served on the boards of Literacy Source and Solid Ground.

Mia Tuan is Dean of the University of Washington College of Education and a respected scholar and academic leader. Prior to her arrival at the UW, Ms. Tuan was a professor of sociology and education studies at the University of Oregon, where she also served as the interim dean of UO’s College of Education from 2013-14. Ms. Tuan’s research focuses on racial and ethnic identity development, Asian transracial adoption, and majority/minority relations. She is the author of numerous scholarly articles and three books.
